It's Good to Have it Back
« on: March 13, 2006, 11:59:00 PM »
I knid of missed the forums in the past couple of days.  I checked virtually daily to see if they were back.

Everything seems to be there and the move appears to have gone fairly smoothly, while it has probably not gone as smoothly, as you had envisioned.  Congratilations on the successful move.

Hi Romeo,

Good to see you again! Yes, seem to be OK now... the skin didn't quite make it , and neither did the smilies or the board-based avatars (like the one Tyrantmizar used), but all the important stuff -- like the posts! -- seem good. Hopefully, we'll be able to upgrade the forum software now from IPB 1.3.1 to IPB 2.1.5 and get lots of new features (like RSS feeds from the forums).

-Eric

edit: I notice your avatar is gone, too. It looks like anyone who uploaded their avatar to the board (instead of hosting it on another site like imageshack.us), has lost their avatar. I can retrieve it from the old board if you need it... let me know.

Eric, if it is not too much of a trouble, it would be nice to have it back.  Come to think of it, I just found it.

Tried to upload it, but it said that I am not allowed to U/L personal phots/avatars.  If you could enable me, I would just upload it.  [smiley (2,3)]

Thanks,

Romeo

I'll fix that and PM you when it's ready.

I wonder why this thread's date shows as March 11 when today is March 13?

Yeah, good question. I hadn't notice it until you said something.  The time seems to be off too.

The server (aeshells.org) reports the correct date/time, so it must be something wrong with the forums

Eric, I tried to reply, but it said that my mailbox is full.  So I do not know if you received it.  It is for that reason that I post my reply here again:

Hi Thomas,
Can you try using your avatar now? It should work...

Eric,

This is the message I get:

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

You are not allowed to upload that type of file as an avatar or personal photo

This is an animated avatar, though.  Does that make a difference?

Thanks, time is now fixed.  I thougth the settings came over from the other board, which is why I didn't bother to check the time zone setting in my prefs.

I think the timezone got left behind.

Anyway, what's the size of the avatar you tried to upload, both file and dimensions?

It's not a size problem...I checked that. It's the fact that it's an animated gif. Need to ask in the IPB support forum how to allow those--it's a setting somewhere in the myriad admin options.

Eric, it really is not a big deal.  I can do with the one I have now.  Who knows may be I'll find a different one.  So, do not worry about me.  You've got plenty of other things to worry about at the moment.

I noticed that some of the smilies are back.  That's good.  Now I won't have to figure out the coordinates of the smilie I want anymore.  It was kind of rough working with those imaginary smilies and the x,y coordinates.

Eric,

It's still kind of dead in here.  I guess people don't know that the forums are back up, yet.

Well, it might also be because there hasn't been a release in a while.
