Hi,

PasswordMaker diehards may have noticed Google Ads at the top of the forums introduced today/yesterday. My intent is to use the funds acquired with this to purchase (annually) an SSL certificate so we can offer the Mobile Edition more securely.

If anyone has concerns about this, please let me know. As usual, I do not intend to profit from PasswordMaker. Any extra money (minus taxes) gathered from Google Ads will be donated to my favorite charity.

Regards,
Eric

Do you have a charity in mind already?

Eric, I don't mind one bit...AdblockPlus does a fine job of allowing me to ignore those ads anyway!

I think that advertising is a great way of securing funds for your project as it ads only a minor inconvenience (if any at all) and allows for some rather passive income.

I don't have any beef with Google like some people, though.

Good Luck,

Brad

Not really. I don't have any idea how much money this will generate. Why, any suggestions?

Yeah, unfortunately AdblockPlus prevents the ads from loading altogether, which means no credit from google

What I'll do, then, Eric, is to visit the PasswordMaker site from Internet Explorer from now on.  I'll just set my IE tab to open passwordmaker.org with IE by default.  It's easy enough and will not make me seem like a hypocrite about the ads.

Considering what PasswordMaker has done for me it's no inconvenience at all.  I hope it works for you.

Brad

EDIT:  It's done and I now am able to see the ads at the top of the page.

Doesn't Adblock Plus have an option to allow a site to display ads?

I'm using AdBlock Plus 0.7.0.1 which gives me the option to disable AdBlock per site, which I have done for these forums.

I've disabled it but forgot that I also have Kill Google Ads which prevents the ad's loading as well.  That means I'll have to stick with the IE tab option.

Well, for some reason I'm not getting ads anymore--and I don't have AdBlock or anything else installed on this profile.

It's academic at this point because no money has been generated, but I think some or all of the "leftovers" should go to aeshells.org for the free hosting.

Maybe split the leftovers between aeshells.org and SF?

[edit] You know, looking at the front page with the ads... I don't like the 'bar' with the search box being below the ads. Doesn't appear to be an easy way to move that though.

Here's my experience with Google Adsense:

I use it on one of my sites since about a year, and income is very changing, don't expect too much from it. There's virtually no credit from ads being displayed, mostly not even from a click, only if someone actually buys anything big you can get as much as $1 from that click. But mostly not.

So you all can enable adblock again, because just displaying them is not much support. And I don't think there'll be much "leftovers", unless we attract many guests willing to buy stuff from ads.
