Random accounts revert their character range from the default full range (everything on a default keyboard) back to 0123456789abcdef (which is the default for the old passwords).

I think I'm going insane. There doesn't seem to be any cause for it.

Okay, now its getting very annoying. It seems like everytime I open PM one of the character sets are corrupted. But it doesn't seem to have a logical pattern, nor is it consistent. I find myself getting paranoid.

On thing I do notice is that, for some bizzare reason, the folder that holds the accounts has a character range- the 0123456789abcdef one. If I create a new folder, it doesn't have a character range, so I can only assume something went screwy.

ARGH!!

I think I found it though:

1) Ctrl`
2) Click on an account
3) Click 'Account Settings'
4) Don't do anything, just click okay [Edit!] Actually, I'm finding that you can do just about anything after opening this as long as you click 'Okay' and not 'Cancel'
5) Close PM
6) Open, and Voila, the character set is switched

Also, when my folder gets the character set, it only appears if you choose to show Characters in the menu (use that symbol at the right). For some reason, if you click on the folder, and then on 'Account Settings', it wont let you choose okay because you have to have at least 2 characters.

Please tell me if its not doing that for you. It may be my computer, which has happened before.

I've tested this on PM 0.6.1 beta4. Trying it out now with other versions on a new profile.
[Edit!]I've found this on 0.6.1 betas 2-4 on a brand, spankin-new profile.
[Edit! again]Scratch that, it does NOT seem to show up on a new profile. It only shows if you upgrade from 0.6 to betas2-4.

I've found the problem, at least with Characters. Can you explain what you mean by this:

Thanks,

Once you click 'Account Settings' and open the window, it doesn't matter what you change. You can change the l33t level, the character set, prefix, whatever. But once you hit 'OK' and close it, the character set will switch. If you hit 'Cancel,' however, the character set will not change.

Intersestingly, the two character sets seem retain their individual changes. For example if you add an 'r' to the 0123456789abcdef one, then you change with this glitch, and change back, the 'r' will still be there.

Yeah, that's because both sets are being saved. If you open passwordmaker.rdf in your profile directory, you'll see something similar to this for each account:

Code: [Select]
<NS75:charset>ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789`~!@#$%^&*()_-+={}|[]\:";'<>?,./</NS75:charset>
<NS75:charset>0123456789abcdef</NS75:charset>

whereas, when coded correctly, there should only ever be one character set per account. I'm curious to know how you "switch" between the two in the Account Settings dialog? I understand how you lose the original (94 character) set, but how are you switching back to it? Not that it really matters... I already know how to fix the bug... but I'm just curious.

thanks,
eric

I realize I'm not being as clear as I could be, so I'll start from the beginning.

To reproduce:
1)Open PM (I use Ctrl`)
2)Click and open the Account settings of any account
3)Click Okay
4)Close PM
5)Open PM
6)Character Set Settings should be switched (if you had 0123456789abcdef as the set, it should now be the ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789`~!@#$%^&*()_-+={}|[]\:";'<>?,./ one and vice-versa)

Keep in mind that the only reason that there are two character sets is because someone updates from 0.6 to one of the betas. If you create a new profile, and then install one of the betas, then the problem doesn't seem to exist.

I have fixed the problem and will release another beta this week. Unfortunately, if you've used any of the previous betas, your passwordmaker.rdf file might be corrupt. I spent a lot of time trying to account for this in the extension, but can't account for all possiblities.

I'll post instructions on how to fix passwordmaker.rdf, but the quickest way is to just delete all of your accounts and re-create them.
