I had to download twice. I think we need to use http instead, since Firefox hates HTTPS for downloads of XPI for some reason.

Excuse me "Eric,"

All I get is an 'MT' screen and if I right click it there is not a selection to save to Disc only references the links.

"Mr. quixin,"

I presume, well maybe anyway, Eirc asked me to post here to get someone else to attempt to assist me with my download of the latest update. He had given me a link that was not on the secure server and it worked, all of the right bells and silent whisles were there.  Now it tells me that the install of the update will take place the next time I restart FireFox.  That has been done about 3 times/w about 5 to 7 minutes between and still shows v1.3.3 is waiting to be replaced by v1.4.2.

This is what was sent to Eric in PM:

"My ICON and Gold Key on the tool bar are gone.  In MenuBar/Tools/Extensions PasswordMaker v1.3.3 is shown that it will be updated when FF is restarted.  Done that twice and they are still gone and not updated.  Have attempted to remove five (5) other extensions that are not used to speed up FF startup and they are still there with the message "Local install will be uninstalled when FireFox is restarted."  For them it has been restarted about 5 times and they are still there as well.

BOO HOO!!"

Now I have a question about the updates from 'https:' if I may?  I looked into the 'extensions.rdf' file in C:\WIN98SEP\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.xxxxxx and discovered the :updateURL="http://passwordmaker.org/update.rdf", which is the download server is not shown as "https:"  Could this be some of the problems with the download ERROR when attempting to update?

I await your return,

No, this is OK.

Can anyone help with his other problem? Sounds like his profile might be hosed? Have you posted at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38 by any chance?

To whom it may or maynot concern,

I am totally lost and find thingys are normal again.  Allow me to explain, the Extensions I have been attempting to remove and could not, well they have just disappeared AND my ICON and Gold Key for PasswordMaker are back in place.  My PasswordMaker is up to version 1.4.2.  I had made another attempt at downloading from the secure server and BAM BOOM BOMB while the ERROR Box was showing it suddenly changed to the Extension download window and I clicked on the Install radio button another error box came up and went away and low and behold my ICONS are back and all is NORMAL.  Except for ME!!!!

I know you have not even been able to read my previous message yet, so what it is working now AND I DO NOT KNOW WHY!!!

Thank you for your assistance,

OK! Guys,

All is well again, I stopped and had supper plus fed my dogs and cats had an arguement with one of my dogs, as usual he wants special treatement and I will not.

Eric,

You say NO that makes no difference.  Well I did change all entries for PasswordMaker's server to https: and that may have made the difference in my download.  It did go through as it should have in the first place.  Not arguing just letting you know what is happening from this side.

If you would like I can go back to 1.3.3 and do the update again and see if thingys work better now and change those references to the nonsecure server and try it again.  That is your call.  No hurry when ever.

Notice I am calm again, not like I was with that last message,

Hi, thanks for the info. No, you don't have to downgrade... thanks for the helpful offer. By the way, I was thinking about the problem with closing firefox and the extensions not installing (and the others not uninstalling). This has happened to me, too. In order for the extensions to install/uninstall, ALL instances of firefox.exe must be terminated. When I find a problem like the one you described (I close all Firefox windows but the extensions don't install/uninstall), I usually see a "phantom" firefox.exe process in Windows Task Manager. After killing it and then starting Firefox, everything works as expected.
