Hello,

First I'd like to say that your passwordmaker is excellent.
I was a roboform user before I moved to Ubuntu Linux.
My problem is that the password on my firefox extension
and your passwordmaker site are slightly different.

The firefox extension says: LBPQ*v</zjzRa#!r<xmFI|
the website says               : LBPQ*v</zjzRa#!r<xmF

Am I missing something?

Seems like a length issue. Maybe the web site is not able to generate a password long enough for the length you want?

Hi klepto,

Thanks for the compliments. You have the firefox extension set to generate passwords of length 22. You have the website version set to generate passwords of length 20. Just change the two so they match, and so will the passwords!

Regards,
Eric

OK... then you have probably specified an extremely long set of characters? This was a bug fixed in the Firefox extension version 1.3.3, but hasn't been fixed on the online edition yet--I'm actually working on it right now at http://passwordmaker.org/passwordmaker2.html (it's not finished yet). Can you tell us all the settings you are using on the website (don't need the master password)?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Klepto,

Thanks for registering :) Be aware that the forum's emailer doesn't always work. IOW, you don't always get notified of a reply to a topic to which you are subscribed :(  We're working on upgrading the forum software to a verseion where this is fixed.

I was able to reproduce your error, but I've also fixed it. Using a master password of "foo" and the settings you show above, I get these generated passwords:

Firefox/Mozilla extension: RT#hjikKPL]V5Q44^[0Yd~
PasswordMaker Online 2.0: RT#hjikKPL]V5Q44^[0Y
PasswordMaker Online 2.1: RT#hjikKPL]V5Q44^[0Yd~

Can you confirm the online version 2.1 works for you? I'll make it public after I hear back from you...

Regards,
Eric

Klepto,

Here's a reference to the bug you're running into when it reared its head in the Firefox/Mozilla extension. It was fixed there in version 1.3.3.

Since we haven't heard back from you yet, we're going to assume everything's good and release PasswordMaker Online version 2.1.

Yes,

thank you very much for your work on this.
The online version matched my password exactly.

Let me get this correct, as long as I export the settings I can import
them on my computers if I know the master password and the versions
are the same correct?

Correct. Actually, versions don't matter (at least up till now they haven't). Everything's backwards-compatible so far.

Thank you much,

This program makes creating complex/secure passwords easy
and remembering them easier. I've used around 200 bit passwords
for a few years but it was hard to keep up with them and having
a written list of passwords is suicide.

Keep up the excellent work.

If you come to NW Florida the beer is on me!

Wow, thanks. It's nice to hear people other than the "core" 10 or so people who post here regularly are using it. It really is.
