Feature Requests List
« Reply #30 on: August 11, 2005, 08:49:20 PM »
Hi Tyrantmizar,

I received these via direct email. Some of these are in the list, some of them aren't. Please add them when you have a chance, and increment their vote counts. IOW,  assume the people making the request are also voting for the request--even if they haven't cast 3 votes -- unless the person has already made 3 requests.
  • Ability to create a new account for the current URL via context menu while in a password field - Wayne Arthurton via email, Wed, 20 Jul 2005 (assume he's voting for this, too)
  • New accounts should use default settings (I know this is already in the list, so just increase its vote count) - Wayne Arthurton Wed, 20 Jul 2005 (assume he's voting for this, too)
  • If you go to a site, which is defined in your account settings, could you make the PM ring change colors, whereas when you go to a site, which is not set up it stays the same, or vice versa. This way, the user can be assured that he or she is at a valid site, as opposed to some spoof. - Romeo, Wed, 27 Jul 2005
  • About dialog should be dismissable with the ESC key like all the other dialogs. - Romeo, Wed, 27 Jul 2005
  • When you click on 'New Account', you should be presented with the 'PasswordMaker Account-Specific Settings' dialog instead of an entry titled New Account being placed in the accounts pane.  I think that this would improve the usability score a little bit. - Romeo,  Sat, 30 Jul 2005

Got it.  I went ahead and added votes for all of the ones that were in the old list (from a couple posts ago).

Hoo boy.  "New accounts inheirit default settings" is popular.

Damn, I was hoping I would get three extra votes.

More received via email...
  • Rename the Default Options account to Default Account - Romeo, Sat, 30 Jul 2005
  • Import/Export settings should be easier to find; specifically, place the File menu on the Basic Options Dialog and Advanced Options Dialog. Perhaps add buttons or a toolbar for them, too? -Rick von Richter,  Tue, 02 Aug 2005, glowworm as posted Aug 4 2005, 06:56 AM here, and Romeo via email while working on the Help Manual

Up to about 37 or so features.

This is going to become the Mozilla of all extensions.

You know Eric, it's still not too late to just give up and declare this the final version...  Soon you'll have to add the features to the Firefox extension, Mozilla extension, IE plugin-thingy, 2 types of widgets, an online version, and a java application.  When that happens, I don't think we'll be seeing a new version every week or two like we have recently (unless you tone it down to 1 feature per version).

You should seriously add a Kitchen Sink.  It would make this poor, innocent, overwelmed extension feel complete.

Allow option to disable Firefox's password manager has been added.

In other news, I'm going to be gone until Monday.  Keep the requests and voting coming, but don't expect me to do anything for the weekend.

See ya!

One vote for "Ability to populate the Characters list with a random set of characters"--I'm not too good at randomizing them myself ;)

Because of 0.7.3 beta 2, I have removed the following posts (shall be striked out for a few days (maybe a week) to indicate this):
  • Inport/Export needs to be easier to find: Place the File menu on the Basic Options Dialog and Advanced Options Dialog
As such, these people have their votes back:
  • glowworm
  • Rick von Richter
This release was mostly made of bug fixes, so not much to do here.

Eric:  Concerning this feature on the beta page:
Quote
All groups in the accounts tree are now initially closed instead of initially open

Should I take that to be this feature?:
Quote
Accounts tree should remember which groups are open/closed across invocations.

Yep. Note the tree doesn't yet remember which folders are open/closed across invocations.

Hey Tyrantmizar,
It would be preferable if you could cross-out implemented requests and move them to the bottom of the list instead of deleting them altogether. This gives us a "history". Alternatively, you could move them to a new list, but this might be confusing.

edit: nevermind, looks like you're already doing that.
