How do I set up a default email account?
« on: August 25, 2008, 05:16:36 AM »
I note that whenever (or at least often when) I go to a web page with a login or registration form, PasswordMaker populates the name, email address, and password fields for me.  That is good, but I do have two questions:

*) In any single case, what is the easiest way to get it to populate with an account (that I already have set up) instead of the default account?

*) PWM is populating the email field with the user name.  How do I set up a default email address for an account?  Especially for the "Defaults" account?

In order to use Account specific settings, you have to add a matching URL pattern on the URLs Tab. This is how PWM determines which account to use. If no matching URL pattern is detected, it uses the Defaults account.

There is no 'Email' field in PWM, there is only a username field. If you want PWM to populate other fields with certain information, you'll need to add those fields via the 'Advanced Auto-populate' Tab for that account.

Assuming the login page only has an email address and password, you can populate the Username field in PasswordMaker with an email address. If, however, the login page has both an email address and a username field, you'll need to do as tanstaafl suggested with advanced auto-populate.

Good point, but just out of curiousity - is this by design? Or just an accidental 'good thing'?

;)

p.s. - Eric - given any thought to redisigning PWM to use the sqlite DB built into the new FFox 3.x for PWM's accounts and settings?

"There is no 'Email' field in PWM, there is only a username field. "

What is going on now when the user name is populated into the email field?  Does PWM just put user name into any field it does not recognize?  That would seem a bit strange to me.  OTOH, if PWM can recognize an email field, then it would be good for it to have a concept of a default email address to put there.  (FWIW: I use different email addresses for different groups.)

Related question -- can field names contain wild cards?  I tried *email*, but that did  not seem to work.
