Using existing password - password incorrect
« on: March 08, 2008, 12:53:42 AM »
Hi,
I'm new to PWM and cannot find the mistake I'm making.
I've an account with a website that does not facilitate change of password so, in PWM I created a new group and within that a new account. I went to the website, and using Advanced Auto-populate I filled in the password and the username field.
Auto-populate on the Url tab is also checked.
When I visit the webpage, the username field is not populated, only the password (masked ). But when I enter the username manually, the login is rejected 'invalid username or password'. When I re-enter the password manually, it works ok.
Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong would be welcomed.

I did try adding the username field to the Default account and oddly, the username and password fields were then populated but the password was still incorrect. Perhaps I generated a new password by mistake?

You checked the URL tag for the correct URL patterns, right?

Yeah... it sounds like it is using the Defaults account... which means the pattern you have defined is not matching (or you didn't add a pattern to match on).

I seem to have done what you suggest. I've tried it with and without a wildcard problem. I ran it with password displaying in plain text and it is definitely using the generated password rather than the one I entered for the site.
Attached is pic of url dialog.

Thanks for the speedy replies.

Did you read the pattern help? That pattern doesn't look right...

Best/most secure is not to use a wildcard at the beginning, so it should be something like this:

http://*.torrents.com/*
