Pretend I'm 6
« on: October 24, 2007, 10:48:16 PM »
I'm a novice with PWM and I can't figure it out even after reading the "setup" instructions several times. Would someone please walk me through it, just pretend I'm 6. I have an account on FilePlanet I'm using as a test site.

Thanks,
Larry

What 'setup' instructions did you read?

I'm not asking to nit pick, I'm asking because we recently converted the website to a wiki in order to update and expand on the documentation for PWM... if you are not able to follow these instructions to get a working knowledge of PWM, then maybe there is something that we can do to make them better.

Also - your question is way too broad... it would be better if you would post more detail on what precisely you have done, and where your understanding starts breaking down...

We will be happy to help, but PWM is not intended for 6 year olds, sorry... ;)

You have to do your part - and that means providing more detail on what you have done so far and what exactly you are not understanding...

Am I missing something? I can't find any instructions or explanation about how to use this... can someone post one here? In instructions aimed at a 6-year-old?

Start at the beginning:

The meat starts here:

We're happy to help, but you're going to have to do majority of the work...

Thanks for the link. I have a specific question. Can I use password maker from a different computer, or does it have to be installed in order for me to retrieve my passwords?

No, it doesn't have to be installed. You have a few options... one of which is to use the online edition (http://passwordmaker.org/passwordmaker.html). All you need to use that is a web browser.

When I first went to Password Maker (Wiki version) there was Nothing there under Getting Started.  I clicked on Tutorials and got the page "Getting Started" http://passwordmaker.org/Tutorials but that page is empty. I would recommend adding some info or links to the various Web Browser Getting Started Pages. I was still a little confused over what PWM did and that is why I was searching the forum.

That is not working for me at all, it's giving me a different password. I read through the wiki again and I can't find any information about this. I was going to recommend Password Maker to my father, but I don't think there's any way he'll figure out how to use this.
