Would you be able to make a widget for Konfabulator?  I realize you probably would have to tone down some of the features (auto-population, alt`, etc) but it still would be useful for stuff like copying to the clipboard and stuff like that.

[edit]There is already something like this here.

Yes, I can do that. Would you rather see a cross-platform Java desktop application first, or a Konfabulator widget?

Personally, I would rather see a Konfabulator widget, but I think, perhaps, others (specifically, anyone with Linux) would need the cross-platform Java applet.

Maybe you could start a poll on this topic for me in this forum? I would really appreciate it. Any help with prioritizing requests is needed. Fundamentally, I'd like to go with a "majority rules" approach--the more votes a request has, the quicker it gets implemented. Of course, other factors like workload must also play a part.

Careful of terminology here. A java applet is not the same as a java application. An applet only runs inside a web browser, and I'll not be writing one of those since the PasswordMaker extension already does just that. A java application, on the other hand, is a downloadable, installable .EXE with Start Menu shortcuts (on Windows, anyway), an uninstaller, etc.... a stand-alone application which does not get hosted in a browser like an applet.

Oh.  Good thing you knew what I meant.  I'll try not to make that mistake in the future, but no guarantees.

Hi Eric,

I've just added a vote for this. In our conversation on IRC, I mentioned that I'm also running another Java password manager/generator. I believe an OS/Browser-independent PasswordMaker will provide coverage for those areas not accessible by WWW. For example, I need a password manager/generator for my FTP sites, Telnet/Shell Accounts, IRC accounts, USENET accounts etc. Of course, if you have a better idea than a Java app...

Regards.

John
