to be more precise, the dialog opens up everytime I invoke PM (doesn't matter if it's from the toolbar icon or with the keyboard shortcut), and everytime I switch between advanced and basic mode.

Other than that... I mostly use my default settings, so I don't know what would happen if I tried to make accounts in PM.

Hi,
This was discussed here and here. I apologize for the pop-ups. You can ignore them, or copy a dummy file to the location discussed on the other thread to get rid of them until the next release.

If you're interested in helping PasswordMaker, you could give me more info like OS, Mozilla/FF/Netscape, installation directory, and profile directory.

Regards,
Eric

OS, Mozilla/FF/Netscape, installation directory, and profile directory:

Win XP

FF

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\

%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sghobwb0.default

I'm as vanilla as you can get.

though I'm not an admin, just a regular user.

Hm, do you have write access to :\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome\icons\default directory?

Thanks for your help in debugging this,
eric

I don't have write access to anything under "c:\program files".

but that's the same as for everyone else who's a restricted user on XP.

OK, thanks for the feedback. The next version still tries to copy, but silently fails (no popup) if it's can't perform the copy.

A non-root user (as would be wise for web browsing of course) in Linux would not have write access under /usr either.

PM 0.7.1 / FF 1.0.6 / Linux 2.6.12 here and the problem is still present.

I fixed it by manually copying the file to the intended destination as root, but most users won't have that ability.  (None on this host should have a need now though. :) )

Hi eyequeue,
Glad to see you joined the forum. I remember we spoke once directly via email a couple months back (before these forums existed, I believe).

I sincerely apologize for the inconvient pop-up message. It has been removed from the code and will be in the next release (coming soon :))
