PasswordMaker 0.7.1 available
« on: July 18, 2005, 10:02:07 PM »
Hello,

PasswordMaker 0.7.1 has just been released. It's available here or, if you use Firefox, by using the Extension Manager's update feature.

Regards,
Eric

What is up with the "Show Asterisks" button?  I click it, and it asks for my master password, which I have never saved!  My real password doesn't work either, so what is the master password?

Is there supposed to be a master password field?  There isn't on my resolution (1024x768 ).  [edit]scratch that, there isn't at all.

You did not fix the tips typo.  You fixed the second one, but the first and third ones are still wrong.

Are you saying you never entered a master password but the Show Asterisks button is covering the master password field? If so, that a is a major bug. Please let me know what you did to produce that...

Here is a screenshot:

I have no idea how it happened.  I loaded the 0.7.1 xpi without uninstalling 0.7.

I lwas oading just 0.7.1 on a new profile and the bug didn't happen.

I'm going to work on reproducing this later- I've got dinner.

Hm, I just tried the same thing -- took a profile with 0.7 installation, made sure it wasn't storing a master password, upgraded to 0.7.1, and restarted Firefox. I don't get the problem you're showing (Show Asterisks button instead of the master password field)

Can you repeat the same test when you have a chance? FWIW, setting maskMasterPassword in passwordmaker.rdf to false will remove the Show Asterisks button. A future version will encrypt that file, though, so it won't be so easy to circumvent  :)

OK, dinner went quicker than I thought it would.

I've tried a variety of different things, and I can't get the bug to reproduce itself.  Heck, I can't get the "Show Asterisks" button to show up at all!

How are you supposed to access the "Show Asterisks" button? [edit] nevermind
