unnecessary buttons under Basic options
« on: June 07, 2005, 12:14:29 AM »
When I switch to basic options on version 0.6, the window is extremely large, and made up of empty space.  Upon closer inspection, I notice that there is an 'OK' and 'Cancel' button at the bottom.  As far as I can tell, both of these are unnecessary, because they seem to do the same thing as 'Close.'

Also, for some reason, it automatically resizes to show all of the buttons (meaning it is huge, to accomadate for the 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons) if I restart Fx and open PasswordMaker again.  This is very annoying on some computers, because the bottom and top edges go off the screen, so it is difficult to resize them on those.

To reproduce:

1) Open PasswordMaker
2) Click Basic Options
3) Voila!

Yet another bug.

You cannot uncheck "Mask Generated Password."  It asks for your Master Password, then doesn't do anything.  You can click on the check mark again, but then it asks for your password again.

To reproduce:

1) Open PasswordMaker and make sure it is in advanced options (duh)
2) Check the 'Mask Generated Password' Box
3) type in a password, say 'www'
4) try to uncheck 'Mask Generated Password'
5) enter password ('www')
6) click 'OK'
7) Nothing happens

Hi Tyrantmizar,
Thanks for the feedback. You are right about the Basic Options dialog being very large with extra buttons, but after you resize it to be small it remembers the size. So the next time you open it, the box should be small. Doesn't that work for you? I will remove the OK and Cancel buttons in the next release.

As for the second bug you reported, I'm not able to reproduce it. I followed your steps exactly and the master password is "unmasked." Are you sure you're typing the master password correctly when prompted for it? If you don't type it correctly, you'll be prompted over and over again (until you press cancel). If you've forgotten the master password, you can clear the master password box then uncheck "Mask Generated Password" without being prompted for anything.

Looking forward to your reply,
Eric Jung

For #1, I'll just use the saved resize for now.

#2, however, is weird.  For some reason, on my computer, the Mask Generated Password (here on referred to as MGP) is iffy.

Unchecking the box will bring up a prompt.  I've found that no matter what I enter, the result is the same:  The prompt disappears and the MGP box is still checked.

I tried this on another profile, and the result was the same.

I might be a problem with my computer, but that is doubtful.  This is confusing, as you're getting completely different results.

Weird,

sorry to uproot an old topic, but I like to tie up loose ends

#2 became fixed sometime recently, definitely by 0.7

So... never mind.
