Title: CoolKey and auto-populate
Post by: Undefined on October 19, 2005, 09:22:42 PM
The issue is that whenever I use Alt+` or right-click on a form and use "Populate with PasswordMaker", the password input is never correct.  Then, to log in, I have to Ctrl+` to open PWM and copy the generated password from there and paste it in the field and the login is accepted.

Firefox's saved passwords aren't conflicting with this (they probably wouldn't anyway, I'm not sure, I was just trying to do everything I could think of to fix it), and I had this problem in the previous version as well (0.8.7 I believe), though CoolKey wasn't available then to my knowledge.

Everything has remained at the default settings with default group.  I looked at the sticky about incorrect URLs, but I haven't set anything but domain name to be considered in generating PWs, so subdomains (like forums.gentoo.org) shouldn't matter.  I didn't have any problem before.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Hrm.  While messing with the hash algorithm in Advanced, suddenly CoolKey started working.  I've always kept it on MD5, I don't see why anything I did would have changed it.

Anyway, it's fixed!  Thanks for the great extension.

That is worrisome. What is not set to MD5 before?

Used Fastreply earlier, forgot about not being registered.

If I read you right and you meant "Was it not", yes, it was set to MD5 before.  I turned off "hide PW with asterisks", opened the PWM Ctrl+` window, and used Populate with PWM and CoolKey's autofill and witnessed it fill a different PW than the PWM Window showed, though both Populate and CoolKey's Alt+` filled the same [wrong] PW.  I only mention the hashing algorithm because I was messing with settings that should not seemingly have corrected the problem, and then it is inexplicably fixed.  As much of a headache as it was, I wish I could reproduce it now for you.
