Title: Online VS Extension
Post by: mboverload on August 26, 2005, 01:02:37 PM
Yes, I know that they have different settings and I have already set my PasswordMaker to have the same as the online version.

What I want to know is why they are different in the first place.  ???

If you are concerned about legacy support yhou could have a message pop up after you first install it asking if they want "Legacy" settings or those that work with the online version.

There is no such thing as "Legacy Settings". All versions are backwards compatible to version 0.2, except for a very rare leading zero truncation problem (http://forums.passwordmaker.org/index.php?showtopic=144), which will be fixed.

OK, I think I finally understand what you are getting at after reading your other post (http://forums.passwordmaker.org/index.php?showtopic=253). You just want a way to easily synchronize the online version extension, right?

FWIW, the reason they are different today is merely because of historical reasons.  You are probably right that I should change the defaults to match eachother.
