Title: Waiting for page load.
Post by: owlcroft on August 24, 2010, 10:47:02 AM
I hope this is not a stupid question.

When I go to a site for which a PWM account exists, PWM fills in the wanted data when the site page has finished loading.  Perhaps for many users, that is satisfactory, but for me it is something of a problem.  The problem arises because we are in a rural area and have a supposed "high-speed wireless" connection that is often slow, sometimes shockingly slow, and erratic.  Many times, a site's front page--or at any rate, its login page--will partly load, enough to reveal the login area, but will not finish loading: the browser just sits there churning away, stating that it is loading data from the site.  If I force the browser to stop to the endless loading, leaving me with some--usually most--of the login page, PWM does not fill in the login data.

Is there a way that PWM can be told to fill in forms even on a page that was interrupted before completion?  (Providing that the entry fields have loaded.)  If not, then how do I turn this into a Feature Request?

Thank you for any help and information.

You mean without you having to do anything? I think/thought the auto-fill is disabled by default, which would mean you had intentionally enabled it - but I could be wrong.

Anyway, to disable the auto-fill, open PWM, open the account, and uncheck 'Automatically populate...' on the URLs tab.

Sure, there are two ways to tell PWM to activate:

Coolkey toolbar button (you have to manually place this button somewhere on your toolbar)

and

The keyboard equivalent of coolkey (which is what I use): ALT+` (thats hold the ALT key, then press the tick key (upper left, next to the '1').

I always manually enable auto-fill, because that's the behavior I want.

I will try the Alt-backtick key combo soon now and see if that works.  Thank you for the tip.  Should it not seem to work, I'll post again.
