Title: Biological Units
Post by: Curious newbie on July 23, 2005, 05:19:50 PM
This is a very cool tool, just installed it and started playing with it.
Tried what i thought "users" ment, but looking through the forums and help it seems these are all permutaions/accounts/etc of a single biological unit with a single Master Password.
We have one machine for general browsing that 2 of us use, but we share enough sites etc to make separate logins more pain than they are worth. However, we each have certain sites (like yahoo, google, banks) where we each have multiple accounts with different user names and passwords.
Is it possible to set up "biological units" each with a master password that could each then use the existing features for multiple user names/domains, etc?

Cheers
tod

Hi Tod,

Although I could build this into PasswordMaker, Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape already supports precisely what you describe with profiles (http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile#new). If you start Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape with the "-profileManager" option, you'll be able to create a profile for yourself and your friend. Now everytime the browser is started, the user is prompted to select which profile to use. Start the browser in each profile and install PasswordMaker. Now you can customize each PasswordMaker installation how you like.

Will that work for you?

Regards,
Eric
