Maybe it is a good idea to implement selfcheck test with know "test vectors" in PWM. I propose this, after reading post about HMAC bug in Yahoo Widgets version. Selfcheck feature is helpful also for developers.
-
Yes, this is a good idea. What is the best way to publish this test vector? An Excel or OpenOffice spreadsheet?
-
If we ever get a wiki setup, that would be a good place for it.

Good point! Perhaps this is something Morguns can look into if you're too busy... he has a perchant for installing and configuring things it seems.

i don't know nuthin' bout no "test vectors", but i can certainly look into a wiki. i'll report back in a couple o days.
-
Remember, our servers are PHP4! Not 5, but 4.

Test vector can be shown in PWM interface. Or, there is no need to show it at all. Selfcheck routine can be performed automatically when PWM starts.

thanks for the reminder miquelfire. even with php stuck at 4.x, a wiki is still doable. MediaWiki 1.6.10 should work. is the wiki going to be its own thing, or do we need to tie it in to other db's?
-
Ah! So there is a version that use PHP 4 still! I like that news.

Other than integrated sign-on, what would we tie it into other databases for?
]Test vector can be shown in PWM interface.
This would be very ugly and most people wouldn't understand it.
Selfcheck routine can be performed automatically when PWM starts.
Why? If you haven't tampered with the code, there is no need for self-check. And if you did tamper with the code, then you could very well have tampered with the test vector, too.

Exactly what integrated sign-on are we going to have anyway?

None that I know of.
