Title: Another Username (phone#) not recognized
Post by: tanstaafl on August 24, 2009, 11:36:26 AM
Subject says it. The site is:

http://www.3jam.com

I had to define an Advanced Auto-pop field, but there is a problem with that too...

It works fine on the main login page, but if you logout, the page you get to log back in is different.

The field has the same name, but a slightly different 'Field ID', so I can't add both, but apparently the different 'Field ID' value prevents this single Auto-Pop entry from working on the other page.

I had a thought on how to better handle 'different' username and/or password field names...

Why not simply hard-code the most popular/widely used field names for 'username' and 'password' fields, but provide a UI that allows the user (me) to add new values that would then also be used by PWM? Along the lines of the 'Special Domains' tab, but Just a simple text box with values on one line. Values could be entered as 'username:value' or 'password:value'.

This would eliminate the need to use Advanced Auto-Pop just for special username or password field names, and defining them once would allow them to be recognized on any/all sites...

Why can't you define two different fields? Obviously, they won't always both be used during auto-pop, but so what?

By the way, why are you paying for this 3jam service and not using Google Voice (free) which seems to do mostly the same thing (no forwarding to skype but everything else AFAICT)

PWM won't let me add both... that was my point.

As for using 3jam... its free for low volume usage, and I don't use it much...

Didn't know google voice did the same thing though... I'll have to check it out, thx...

I don't get it. I can add any number of fields providing the field IDs are different (and you said they are). Why can't you add two of them?

I have already added the first field. It's named 'mobilenumber', and its Field ID is 'number2'.

When I try to add the second field, I get the following error:

"A field with that name already exists in the same form. Please delete the existing field first."

It's name is the same, but the Field ID is 'number'.

How does that help? I don't understand.

The first field - which contains the first field that I have already added - is here:

http://www.3jam.com

The second field - which PWM won't let me add - is on the page I am taken to after logging out:

http://www.3jam.com/logout.php

The two fields are named the same but have slightly different ID's.

I don't know how to explain it any better than that.
