Title: Opera extension (or Opera Widgets get scrapped)
Post by: landroni on May 07, 2012, 10:28:31 AM
Dear devels
The forthcoming Opera 12 will be the first step in removing the Opera Widgets feature [1][2] :
"With this release, Opera Unite and Opera Widgets are removed by default for new users. We encourage all developers to move their solutions to the extension platform. "
"The two Add-on platforms will be completely removed in a later release expected before the end of this year."

This will render the existing PasswordMaker Opera Widget unusable. Are there any plans to provide an Opera Extension similar to the one in Firefox? It would be great if a PasswordMaker Extension could be used as easily as Opera's own Wand: After generating the password in the extension simply pressing 'ctrl + enter' to transfer it into the password field and launch the sign-in process.

From what I read about Opera's extension system, it seems to be the same as what Chrome uses, and I'm fond of PasswordMaker Pro in that case.

If you happen to know of a Opera extension developer looking for a project, that would be great.

Hmm, are you suggesting that Chrome extensions can be used in Opera? I checked some of the PasswordMaker extensions in Chrome and I like them better than the Firefox one. Too bad I don't like Chrome.

For what it's worth, I logged a request with the author of PasswordMaker Pro . [1]
