Title: pageheader.jpg in javascript version
Post by: freilly on June 20, 2007, 04:25:10 AM
Hey all,

Thanks again for a great product.  I almost called it an "extension" but it's so much more than just a Firefox extension, isn't it?

Anyway, just an observation WRT the JavaScript version of PWM and maybe a wee suggestion:

Given the sensitivity, I wonder if it is really necessary to connect to your server, even for such an innocuous thing as loading the pageheader image:

Code: [Select]
<a href="http://passwordmaker.org/"><img src="http://passwordmaker.org/images/pageheader.jpg" border="0" alt="PasswordMaker Logo"></a>
You could easily create a perfectly nice header using only text and CSS, thereby giving your users one more reason to feel secure.  : )

Keep up the great work!

Hi freilly,

I assume you mean the downloadable Javascript version, right?

Indeed, yes.

Done. I've swapped the banner JPG with a 22kb ascii-art banner. If you want to see what the ASCII banner looks like, go to http://ascii.mastervb.net/ and enter these settings:

    url of image:  http://passwordmaker.org/images/pageheader.jpg
    quality:       2
    size:          2
    show in html:  checked
    show in color: unchecked

Alternatively, you can download the new version directly from Subversion (here (http://passwordmaker.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/*checkout*/passwordmaker/javascript-html/trunk/passwordmaker.html?revision=214&content-type=text%2Fplain)), save to disk locally, then open in your browser. I haven't packaged the file as a release yet on the SourceForge download page (is there anything I hate more than publishing releases?)

Holy smokes!  I'm humbled by your responsiveness.  I personally think it looks even better with the "show in color" box checked, but either way, I respect and appreciate your quick action and I know others will too.

Thanks, freilly. I like the color version, too, but it adds 500 KB of HTML to the file vs 22 KB for the black & white...

This has been packaged into release 2.4 and can be downloaded here (http://passwordmaker.org/downloads/javascript.html).
