Help: Gmail puzzle
« on: June 09, 2008, 11:53:13 PM »
I can foresee my life will be greatly simplified since yesterday I started using PasswordMaker. But for the moment, there are some puzzles I need to sort out...

I setup a group for all my Gmail address, and successfully log in to each account by click the the "CoolKey". That's wonderful. But...

I can't log into any of the account by typing the password (or copy/paste from PasswordMaker);

I call it a puzzle because I can type password and login Yahoo with no problem. My Yahoo password was generated in the Default PasswordMaker account, maybe I did something wrong in the procedures of creating group Gmail account?

Edit:
I tried a different step in the procedure of changing password in Gmail, seems find a little clue, but don't know how to solve this...

Previously, I click "Populate this field" when changing gmail password. That's why CoolKey works but typing password doesn't work;
Now, I type in password generated by passwordmaker(I can see it by highlighting the account). This way, the typing password works but CoolKey doesn't work.

So, obviously the passwords which can log into gmail by CookKey are not the ones which shows on the PasswordMaker tab when highlight the account, because they are entered by "Populate this field" when changing password. How can I get things right?

Check the url patterns.

I use this regular expression myself actually: https?://([^/]*\.)?google\.com/.*
I guess the wildcard https://www.google.com/* will work as well, but check to see what the url Google uses to make it starts like that (note the https as well).

When I open my Inbox, the address bar shows: http://mail.google.com/mail/?tab=cm#inbox
What pattern matches this? Thanks!

How to create accounts in group?
« Reply #3 on: June 10, 2008, 08:43:01 AM »
I think it's the way I create the Gmail group messed up things. Here's what I have done:
1. I log in a Gmail address;
2. open the PasswordMaker while this Gmail address is logged in, create new account in Gmail group in PasswordMaker;
3. Click "populate the field" on Gmail webpage.
4. Close PasswordMaker; Log in another Gmail address, open PassworkMaker, create another account...

Please help me figure out where I go wrong? Thanks!

The RegEx I gave will match that url, though, if you're at the inbox, PasswordMaker shouldn't be needed anymore until you log out (or have to log back in for some reason).

But in order for the CoolKey (and maybe other methods. I only use CoolKey) to work, you need to have a URL pattern for the account. Without it, basically, the account is just there, and only usable if you open the main PasswordMaker window.

yes, just as you said, the group I created for Gmail accounts doesn't effect anything at all. Apparently the CoolKey load the password from the default account.

So, I need to add the pattern when create account. But I have 4 Gmail accounts, can I use the same pattern for all the 4?

Thanks very much!

Yes, though it seems as if the other topic helped you out anyway.
