two accounts yahoo
« on: May 27, 2008, 07:35:29 AM »
I have a problem a bit ridiculous, I can not really understand the manual to 100% because I am not good in English. I have two accounts in Yahoo! Mail, therefore two usernames and two passwords. In PasswordMaker, I managed to create an account and it works, but I can not go further. I must create a group with one or two accounts in but it never appears in the box that asks me the principal password. Still, there is only that the default account that appears.
Sorry for my english and for to have not understand you manual.

Hi Eric,

What you are probably having trouble with is the 'URL Patterns'...

Open one of your accounts, and click the URLs tab...

If the list in the box is empty, that is your problem. If it isn't, then there is probably something incorrect in the pattern you entered.

For Yahoo accounts, it should look something like this:

https://login.yahoo.com/*

The trailing asterisk is important... without it, the pattern won't work unless you specify the entire string - and that is unreliable, because that long string can change.

Do this for each of your Yahoo accounts, and then you will get the Account Selection box, to let you choose which account you want to log into Yahoo with.

I highly recommend that you read the wiki about this, and while you're there, anything else you may not understand completely.

Feel free of course to post here with any other questions you might have...

Hope this helps...

Hi

Yes, it works now, I thought that the box was linked with the auto-complete. I also used this function but the definition was not good. Finally, I can not remember what I did.

Now, what are the defaults? Is this just for the basic mode? Is it better to keep them? I think not.

Thank you for your patience, I will do now.

There's nothing wrong with using Basic mode...

But, you'll need to use custom accounts for situations like this where you need different logins for the same site...

You want to say that this account is can be used for simple cases: a username, password and a click on Enter or OK.

In fact, for this account, only the tab URL is necessary, by checking one or more of the four cases. PWM sees site on which it is, and the user must enter a username. The algorithm will give the password corresponding with these informations (and the master password). The algorithm can be selected in his tab.

i.e. I have only one gmail account..

Hmmm... I guess this should be an FAQ, and maybe even an example somewhere in the Advanced Settings instructions...

I'll see about adding something this weekend (this has been and will continue to be a very busy week for me)...

Glad you figured it out... you're probably beginning to see the powerful ways you can use pwm... :)

Thank you for your help,

It's finally easy, even if I still have some problems with certain sites that do not give names to certain fields or the same name in several fields. If there is one tip...

At this moment I am filling and it takes time

At the same genre, would it not be possible one day to allow freedom to the user to impose his password, and to show it is powerful or not? This will avoid having to go around sites to change passwords. The link between the master password and a password may be encrypted I suppose. It was only a suggestion.

I'm not exclude making a tutorial in french, I would be more comfortable.
